A pressure-balancing or thermostatic valve keeps the temperature steady when someone flushes or starts the dishwasher. A new cartridge-style valve is easier to repair later. With a fiberglass surround, we can often reach the valve from an access panel or from the room behind, so you don't have to replace the whole unit.
