Common calls:
A pilot, igniter, element or gas valve.
Sediment or a failing part.
Sediment on the bottom.
Valves can be fixed. Tanks can't.
Most Hanover Park water heaters sit in a basement or utility room.
Tight spaces need careful planning for repairs and replacements.
The village gets treated Lake Michigan water, which is easier on heaters than well water.
Many newer installs use a fan to vent, which adds parts that can fail.
We repair gas and electric tank heaters, power-vent units and tankless heaters in Hanover Park homes.
Read us the label when you call. If it's time for a new one, see water heater replacement.
A yearly flush clears sediment and helps the heater last. We test the relief valve, check the anode rod and inspect the burner and venting.
Tankless heaters need descaling on a schedule.

Most water heater repairs come down to a few parts. On gas heaters, it's the thermocouple or flame sensor, the igniter, the gas control valve or, on power-vent models, the fan and pressure switch. On electric heaters, it's usually a heating element or a thermostat. Relief valves can drip as they age. These are all replaceable. What can't be fixed is the tank itself. Once the tank leaks, the fix is a new heater.
