Drain Cleaning
Slow, gurgling or backed-up drains in kitchens, bathrooms and basements.
In Columbus, the sewer line from your house to the city sewer is yours to maintain, and in older neighborhoods it's often clay. We camera it first, show you exactly what's wrong and give you one flat price before any work. From our office on West Goodale Boulevard.

Not every slow drain means a broken pipe. These are the signs that point to the line under your yard:
If the basement floor drain backs up after a heavy storm, rainwater may be getting into a cracked lateral and filling it.
If a drain gets cleared and slows down again within a few months, something in the line is catching debris, like a root, a crack or a sag.
A wet, lush or sinking line across the yard can mark a leaking or collapsed section of pipe.
Once the camera shows a crack, a separated joint or roots growing through the pipe wall, it's a repair conversation, not a cleaning.
Columbus is a city of very different neighborhoods. About 1 in 4 homes was built before 1960 and about 1 in 8 before 1940. Many are in older neighborhoods near downtown.
The City of Columbus treats the line from your house to the city sewer as the homeowner's responsibility. When it cracks or fills with roots, the repair is yours, which is why we show you the footage before we recommend anything.
Homes in places like Clintonville, Grandview Heights and the neighborhoods around downtown often drain through clay pipe joined every few feet. Roots and groundwater get in at those joints.
The city notes that rain gets into cracked laterals and leaky joints and can push sewage back into basements. Fixing the crack is how you stop that water at your end.
Central Ohio winters swing between hard freezes and quick thaws. The ground moves with them, and older joints separate or sag over the years.
Our Columbus office is on West Goodale Boulevard. Every sewer repair we quote starts the same way.
We run the camera the full length of the lateral and record it. You see the footage, with the distance to every problem marked.
If one section failed, we fix that section. If the whole lateral is failing, we'll show you why a full replacement or liner makes more sense.
You get a flat-rate price before anything starts. The number we quote is the number you pay.

Once we know what's wrong, there's usually more than one way to fix it. Which method makes sense depends on the pipe's condition, location, and how it failed.
| Method | What It Involves | Typical Disruption |
|---|---|---|
| Trenchless Pipe Lining | A resin-coated liner is pulled through the existing pipe and cured in place, creating a new pipe inside the old one. | Minimal digging, usually just small access points |
| Trenchless Pipe Bursting | A new pipe is pulled through the old one while a bursting head fractures the old pipe outward to make room. | Minimal digging, works even when the old pipe is badly damaged |
| Traditional Excavation (Spot Repair) | The damaged section is dug up and replaced directly. | More digging, but sometimes the only option depending on damage location and access |
In German Village and Victorian Village, the lateral often runs under brick walks and tight side yards. Trenchless methods can save a lot of restoration. We'll tell you which fits after the camera inspection.

"Jarrod Grimm was verv professional and able to answer all our questions. The camera technology leaves all the guesswork out of what is going on in the drains. Great service. I would recommend J Blanton Plumbing"
"Updating to also call out Emanuel and Gio, who worked on lining our 110 year old sewer for the past two days. They were flexible, friendly, and professional. No one wants to deal with plumbing issues so we’re thanking for the people who do! 5 stars for Shane Waychoff! He rescued us from a small sewage issue in our basement. [...]"
"Excellent service. The whole crew including Alberto, Giovanni, Teddy and Gael were very professional and thorough. They made a very complex project look very easy. Very depndable service."
The homeowner. The city treats the lateral as the property owner's to maintain.
In Columbus, the homeowner is responsible for the sewer line that runs from the house to the city sewer. If it cracks, separates or fills with roots, the repair is yours to handle. A camera inspection shows exactly where the problem is before you commit to anything.
Often, yes. Lining and pipe bursting work through small access points.
Often, yes. Trenchless sewer repair relines or replaces the lateral through one or two small access points, which matters on tight lots with brick walks and mature trees. A collapsed section may still need a spot dig, and the camera tells us which applies.
Rainwater is getting into the sewer, through your lateral, the city system or both.
During heavy rain, water gets into sewers through cracked laterals and leaky joints, and in some older neighborhoods stormwater and sewage share the same pipe. When the system fills, water takes the lowest way out, often your floor drain. We'll camera your lateral to see if your pipe is part of the problem.
It depends on the damage, depth and method. You get a flat price before work begins.
It depends on what the camera finds: the kind of damage, how deep and long the bad section is, the repair method and what sits above the line, like a driveway, brick walk or old tree. We give you a flat-rate price before any work begins.
A single damaged section usually means repair. Damage along most of the line usually means replacement.
If the damage is limited to one section and the rest of the pipe is sound, a repair usually makes sense. If the camera shows cracks, root intrusion and corrosion along most of the line, replacing it can save you from paying for repeat repairs. We'll tell you straight which one we'd pick for your line, and why.
