Drain Cleaning
Slow, gurgling or backed-up drains in kitchens, bathrooms and basements.
Central Ohio clay soil holds rain against your foundation, and the sump pump is what keeps it out of the basement. We repair, replace and install sump pumps and battery backups, with a flat price before we start, from our office on West Goodale Boulevard.

A sump pump usually fails during the storm that needs it most. Act on these first:
A stuck float, a failed check valve or a pump that's too small for the water coming in.
A jammed impeller or a dying motor. Water keeps rising until the pit overflows.
Often a bad check valve sending water back into the pit, or a float set wrong.
Most pumps last around 7 to 10 years. If yours came with the house, have it checked before spring.
Columbus basements deal with a mix of clay soil, heavy spring rain and older foundations. Here's what we see when sump pumps fail here.
Dense clay drains slowly, so after a heavy rain, water sits against the foundation and keeps feeding the sump pit for hours or days. An undersized or tired pump can't keep up.
Strong storms that fill the pit can also knock out power. A battery backup keeps pumping when the main pump can't.
Sump water should discharge outside, away from the house, never into the sanitary sewer. In older neighborhoods with combined sewers, extra water in the sewer is exactly what causes backups.
Same process whether the pump died during a storm or you want it replaced before the season.
Pump, float, check valve, discharge line and backup, not just the motor.
If a part fixes it, we say so. If the pump is near the end, we explain your options, including a battery backup.

"Called them out on a Saturday morning after our sump pump died and we were panicking about the basement flooding here in German Village, and J. Blanton Plumbing had someone out same-day to replace it. The tech was clean, careful with our floors, and explained everything before starting the work - couldn't ask for better service."
"Andrew A and Andrew M were remarkable!!!! We were in such a panic - just moving into our new home that day and they were professional and so knowledgeable! They are amazing!!!"
"Professional and on time. Did a good job replacing an ejector pump and a sump pump. Highly recommend and Derek was great to work with!"
If the basement is finished, yes. The storms that fill the pit can also cut the power.
If you have a finished basement or anything valuable down there, yes. Heavy storms fill the pit fastest, and they're also when power is most likely to go out. A backup keeps pumping when the main pump stops.
Most last around 7 to 10 years. Older or noisy pumps are worth checking before spring.
Most sump pumps last around 7 to 10 years, less if they run often. In clay soil, pumps tend to run longer after every rain, so if yours is past 7 years or getting noisy, have it checked before spring.
No. A sump pump handles groundwater. Sewer backups need a different fix.
No. A sump pump moves groundwater. Water or sewage coming up through a floor drain is a sewer problem and needs a different fix, like clearing the line, a backflow valve or an overhead sewer system.
It depends on the pump, backup and pit. You get a flat price first.
It depends on the pump, whether you add a battery backup, the condition of the pit and discharge line and access. We give you a flat-rate price before any work begins.
