Hydro Jetting in Columbus, OH

Grease, scale and roots that keep coming back after rodding need more than a cable. Hydro jetting scours the whole pipe wall clean. We camera the line first, quote one flat price and show you the clean pipe when we're done. From our office on West Goodale Boulevard.

The Basics

What Is Hydro Jetting?

Hydro jetting clears a sewer line with a high-pressure water stream, fed through the same cleanout access point used for rodding. A specialized nozzle sprays water in every direction as it moves through the pipe, scouring grease, scale, and roots off the entire pipe wall instead of just cutting a path through the middle. It's the fix for buildup that keeps coming back after rodding, or for roots that have worked into the pipe joints. Rodding opens the line back up. Hydro jetting cleans it.

Know the Signs

When Your Plumbing Needs Hydro Jetting

Rodding opens a line. Jetting cleans it. Here's when the second one makes sense:

The Kitchen Line Keeps Clogging

Grease hardens in layers on the pipe wall. A cable punches through, but the next clog catches on what's left.

Roots Grow Back Within Months

A rod leaves root stubs at every joint. Jetting cuts them off flush with the pipe wall.

Before a Liner Goes In

A lateral has to be clean before it can be lined. We jet it first so the liner seats properly.

The Clog Keeps Coming Back After Rodding

Rodding breaks through the immediate blockage, but it leaves buildup on the pipe walls that the next clog catches on.

Local Knowledge

Why Columbus Lines Need Hydro Jetting

Columbus asks homeowners and restaurants alike to keep grease out of the sewer, because it builds up, cuts the pipe's capacity and causes backups into homes. Add older clay laterals, and you have the two jobs jetting does best.

Grease Buildup in Older Kitchens

Older homes often have long, flat kitchen drain runs with few cleanouts. Grease settles there first, and jetting is the cleanest way to strip it out.

Roots in Clay Laterals

In neighborhoods built before 1960, clay laterals with open joints let roots in. Jetting clears them out completely, and a camera inspection shows where they're getting in.

Camera First, Always

Pressure can hurt a pipe that's already broken, so we camera the lateral before jetting. If a section is cracked or offset, we'll suggest rodding or a repair instead.

Hydro Jetting Questions From Columbus Homeowners

Yes, when the line is checked first. We camera every line before jetting.

Yes, when we look first. About 1 in 8 Columbus homes was built before 1940, and many older laterals are clay. We camera the whole line before any jetting, and if a section can't handle the pressure, we won't jet it. We'll show you the footage and suggest another option.

It clears the grease completely. Keeping it out of the drain keeps it from coming back.

Jetting strips grease off the pipe wall completely, so the line flows like it should. Keeping it that way depends on what goes down the drain. Cooking grease should go in the trash after it cools, not down the sink.

It depends on the problem. Snaking is fast and effective for most clogs; hydro jetting is the stronger fix for hardened buildup or root intrusion.

It depends on the problem. A drain snake breaks through a clog to restore flow. It's fast, effective, and the right call for most drain issues. Hydro jetting uses high-pressure water to scour the pipe wall clean from the inside. When buildup has hardened on the pipe wall, roots have worked into the joints, or the same clog keeps coming back after rodding, hydro jetting is the stronger fix. A camera inspection tells us which one your line actually needs.

It depends on line length, buildup and what the camera finds. You get a flat price first.

It depends on how long the line is, how heavy the buildup is and what the camera shows. Older clay lines with heavy roots can take more work. We show you what's in the pipe and give you a flat price before any work begins.

It clears roots that have already worked into the line, but it can't stop new roots from growing back.

It can cut through and flush out roots that have worked their way into pipe joints, clearing the line completely. What it can't do is stop roots from growing back. That requires repairing or relining the pipe where the intrusion is happening. The camera inspection shows exactly where the roots are entering so you know what you're dealing with before you decide.
