Drain Cleaning
Slow, gurgling or backed-up drains in kitchens, bathrooms and basements.
In Columbus, keeping water moving off your yard is the homeowner's job. When a catch basin or yard drain fills with leaves and silt, rain pools in the yard and against the house. We clean, repair and camera them from our office on West Goodale Boulevard.

A catch basin is a box buried at a low point in the yard or driveway, with a grate on top and a pipe leading out. Water flows in, sand and leaves settle to the bottom, and the water leaves through the outlet. Once the bottom fills up, debris reaches the outlet and the water stops leaving. We clean the basin, clear the outlet pipe and repair basins that have cracked, shifted or sunk.
Catch basin trouble shows up as water where it shouldn't be:
If water sits around the grate for hours, the basin or outlet is blocked.
A full basin sends yard water back toward the house, where Central Ohio clay soil holds it against the wall.
If you can see debris piled at the grate, the basin below is likely full.
Ground settling around the basin points to a cracked or collapsing box or outlet pipe.
The City of Columbus says grading and drainage on private property are the owner's responsibility, and suggests fixes like filling low spots, adding a yard drain or cutting a swale. A working catch basin is one of the simplest.
Much of Central Ohio sits on dense clay soil. Rain soaks in slowly, so surface water has to be moved away from the house, not left to sink in.
Older neighborhoods like Clintonville, Bexley and Upper Arlington have big shade trees. Their leaves and seeds fill basins fast, so yearly cleaning is often worth it.
Water pooling against the foundation finds its way into the basement. If it already has, see basement flooding.
We find out why water isn't draining before we recommend anything.
We look at the grate, the basin and the outlet pipe, and camera the pipe if it's blocked.
Most basins only need cleaning. If the box is cracked or sinking, we'll show you.

Yearly under big trees, less often in open yards. Clean it after leaves drop.
Basins under mature trees often need cleaning every year, ideally after the leaves drop in fall. Basins in open yards can go longer. If water stands around the grate after rain, it's time.
Yes. Pooled water against the foundation finds its way in.
Yes. When a basin can't drain, water pools in the yard and along the foundation, and clay soil holds it there. From there it finds cracks and seams into the basement.
It depends on cleaning versus repair. You get a flat price before any work begins.
