Sewer Rodding in Algonquin, IL

Water creeping up at the basement floor drain or a toilet that gurgles when the dishwasher runs means your main line is blocked. We rod it clear, put a camera through it so you see why and give you a flat price before we start. From our office on Esplanade Drive.

The Basics

What Is Sewer Rodding?

Sewer rodding clears a blocked main line with a long, flexible steel cable fed through a cleanout access point. A cutting head on the end breaks through roots, grease, and debris and pushes the blockage toward the street connection, restoring flow through the pipe. It's the standard first fix for a clogged or backed-up sewer line. For most homes, it's the only fix needed.

Know the Signs

Algonquin Main Line Clog Warning Signs

These point past one fixture to the main line:

Water at the Floor Drain

It's the lowest drain in the house, so a main line clog shows there first.

Gurgling in More Than One Room

Toilets or tubs bubbling when something else drains.

A Backup When the Washer Empties

The surge of water can't get past the blockage.

Basement Bathroom Trouble

A basement shower or toilet that fills or drains slowly.

Local Knowledge

What Clogs Algonquin Main Lines

More than half of Algonquin homes were built in the 1990s and 2000s, so main line clogs usually come from roots, settling or what goes down the drain.

Roots From Maturing Trees

Subdivision trees are now big enough to reach sewer lines. Roots get in at joints and form mats.

Sags That Collect Paper

Where a section settled, water sits and paper and wipes pile up.

Wipes and Grease

Family households send a lot of both down the drain. They bind into plugs.

When It Keeps Coming Back

Roots returning fast call for hydro jetting. A sag or crack calls for a sewer repair.

Sewer Rodding Questions From Algonquin Homeowners

If the floor drain or several fixtures are involved, it's the main.

If one fixture is slow, the clog is usually close to it. If the floor drain backs up or several fixtures gurgle, the main line is blocked.

About once a year.

About once a year is typical, ideally before spring. The camera helps us adjust that for your line.

Usually in the basement near where the line leaves the house, or just outside.

In most Algonquin homes, it's in the basement where the main line leaves the house, or in the yard just outside the foundation. We'll find it.

Only by sealing the joints with a liner or repair.

Rodding and jetting clear roots, but they grow back. Sealing the joints with a trenchless liner or replacing the section stops them.

It depends on access and the clog. The price comes before the work.

It depends on where the cleanout is, how long the line is and what's blocking it. We quote a flat rate before we start.
