Sewer Repair
Tree roots, cracked pipe and repeat backups in the line from your house to the street.
Your sewer line probably runs under a parkway tree, a driveway or a landscaped front yard. Trenchless repair fixes it from the inside through one or two small access points. From our office on Main Street in Naperville.

Trenchless sewer repair, also called no-dig sewer repair, fixes a damaged pipe without digging a trench along its full length. Instead of opening up your yard from the house to the street, we work through one or two access points and repair the pipe from the inside or replace it in place. There are two main methods: cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) lining and pipe bursting. Both fix the line underground, so what's above it stays untouched.
Naperville homeowners maintain the sewer line from the house to the main, and many have invested years in their yards. Lining protects both.
Roots are Naperville's number one cause of backups. A liner seals every joint and crack in the section it covers, so roots have nowhere left to get in.
A trench cuts through the root zone of the trees you want to keep. Lining works inside the pipe.
In older neighborhoods near downtown, clay laterals with cracked joints are what lining handles best.
Many Naperville homeowners rod their line every year to keep roots out. Lining the damaged section ends that cycle, because the roots no longer have a joint to grow through.
The type of damage decides the method:
| What the Camera Shows | Trenchless Usually Works | Needs a Spot Dig |
|---|---|---|
| Roots through cracked joints | Yes | Rarely |
| Aging clay laterals near downtown | Yes | Rarely |
| Cracked fittings in newer PVC | Usually | Sometimes |
| A deep sag | Not on its own | Yes, for that section |
| A crushed or collapsed section | No | Yes |
A camera inspection shows which row your line falls into.
Both methods fix the line underground:
We clean the pipe, insert a resin-coated liner and cure it in place with light. It becomes a seamless pipe inside the old one.
A bursting head breaks the old pipe apart while a new one is pulled in behind it. For lines too damaged to line.
You see the line before we recommend a method and after we finish. Flat rate before any work.

"The technicians and plumbers involved were prompt, friendly, courteous and explained everything with the sewer lining project. The sewer lines were cleaned, repaired, and inspected before the new lining was installed. I recommend them with no reservations!"
"We had a sewer liner installed yesterday by Mason Lanier & his crew from J. Blanton Plumbing. They were on time, worked efficiently & diligently to complete all the work in difficult weather conditions. We are very pleased to have this work completed & impressed with Mason & Co."
"The ENG team did an amazing job installing a liner on our sewer line. It was a very technical job that required a full days work, but they managed wonderfully despite the unexpected snow and inclement weather conditions. Just as important, they were very kind through the process. Thank you!!!"
In the lined section, yes. The liner seals the joints roots use.
In the section that's lined, yes. The liner is one continuous pipe with no joints, so roots have no way in. If other sections of the line are damaged, we'll show you on camera.
Usually. We work through small access points away from the root zone.
Usually. We place access points after looking at the tree, the driveway and the landscaping, and we work inside the pipe instead of digging along it.
It depends on length, method and access. You get a flat price first.
It depends on how much of the line needs work, lining or bursting, access and what the camera finds. You get a flat-rate price before any work begins.
Lined pipe is built to last for decades.
A cured-in-place liner is built to last for decades, and it removes the joints roots used to get in. We'll go over the warranty for your job before you decide.
A liner follows the old pipe, so a deep sag usually needs a spot repair first.
A liner takes the shape of the pipe it's installed in, so it won't lift a low spot. A shallow sag may be fine to line. A deep one is usually fixed with a small spot dig first, then the rest of the line can be lined.
