Sewer Repair
Tree roots, cracked clay pipe and repeat backups in the line from your house to the street.
A gas fireplace that won't light, a pilot that keeps going out or glass turning black. Our plumbers are licensed for gas work and repair, clean and service gas fireplaces across Joliet, from our office on Ottawa Street.

These are the calls we get most once the weather turns:
You hear the igniter click, but nothing lights. A clogged pilot orifice or a weak igniter is the usual cause after a summer off.
The flame comes on and drops out a minute later. The thermocouple or thermopile can't hold the gas valve open anymore.
A tall yellow or orange flame and dark glass point to a dirty burner, shifted logs or a vent that isn't drawing well.
Dead batteries are the easy answer. If new ones don't help, the receiver or switch wiring has failed.
Leave the house first. Call Nicor Gas or 911 from outside, then call us once they clear it.
One visit covers the gas supply, the burner and the vent.
We test the pilot assembly, igniter, thermopile and gas valve, then replace only the part that failed. Remotes, receivers and wall switches too.
We clean the burner, pilot and glass, set the logs back where the manufacturer wants them, leak-test the connections and look over the vent cap.
Converting a wood fireplace or adding an insert? We run and pressure-test the line. See gas line installation.
Joliet's housing spans more than a century, and so do its fireplaces. What we check depends a lot on when the house was built.
In the Upper Bluff and other neighborhoods near downtown, many brick fireplaces were built for wood and fitted with gas logs later. The damper has to stay open, the flue has to be clear and the gas connection has to be tight. We check all three.
Ranch homes from the 1950s and 1960s often got a gas insert in the old fireplace. Inserts vent through a liner in the chimney, and a loose or damaged liner can push exhaust back into the room.
Homes built on the west side in the 1990s and 2000s usually have sealed direct-vent fireplaces. The original pilots and valves may now be 17 to 36 years old, but most parts are still made, so a repair is often all it takes.
Any gas fireplace can produce carbon monoxide if it burns poorly or vents badly. Put a working detector on every level and test it when you change the clocks.
Gas work leaves no room for guessing.
Gas piping should be done by a licensed pro. Ours handle gas lines, valves and appliance hookups every week.
We find the failed part and give you a flat rate. Nothing gets replaced until you say yes.
We test every fitting we touched and run the fireplace until the flame is steady and blue before we pack up.

"Communication, information and installation went great. Price was very competitive. Shane explained everything extremely well and Alex installed hot water tank beautifully. Shortly after Alex left a gas leak from an old valve on the piping to the tank occurred and needed to be replaced, Alex came back same night and fixed it. This is a 5-Star company."
"We had a new gas pipe installed that ws located to sevice our dryer in the basement on July 14th. The Technician was friendly and did a great job with the installation. He cleaned up after himself, and the pricing was competative."
"Andrew and Ty did a great job fixing and replacing some old natural gas pipe that had a recurring leak. Punctual, efficient, kept me informed, cleaned up well after. I highly recommend."
Dust, spider webs and debris in the pilot over summer are the usual cause.
Over the warm months, dust and even spider webs collect in the pilot tube and burner ports. The pilot can't get enough gas to light or stay lit. A cleaning usually fixes it. If it doesn't, the thermocouple or thermopile is the next suspect.
Often, yes, if the chimney is sound and a gas line can reach it.
Often, yes. The chimney needs to be in good shape and drawing well, and a gas line has to be run to the firebox. We handle the gas line and tell you if anything about the setup needs a chimney professional first.
A brief dusty smell is normal. A gas or rotten-egg smell is not.
A short burning-dust smell on the first fire of the season is normal and fades fast. A rotten-egg smell is not. If you smell gas, leave the house, call Nicor Gas or 911 from outside, and call us once it's safe.
Once a year, before heating season.
Once a year, ideally in September or October. That way a weak part shows up on a mild day instead of the first cold night.
It depends on the part that failed. You get a flat price before any work.
It depends on what failed and the make of the fireplace. A licensed plumber finds the problem and gives you a flat rate before any work begins.
