Sewer Repair
Tree roots, cracked clay pipe and repeat backups in the line from your house to the street.
Endless hot water for a busy household and a unit on the wall instead of a tank on the floor. We install, repair and descale tankless water heaters, and we'll tell you honestly if your home is a good fit before you spend anything. From our Techny Road headquarters.

A tankless water heater heats water only when you open a hot tap. Water runs through a heat exchanger, a gas burner or electric element heats it on the spot, and it flows to the fixture. There's no tank to keep hot around the clock, so you don't run out halfway through a shower. The tradeoff is that the unit has to be sized for how much hot water you use at the same time, and it needs the gas supply, venting or electrical service to match.
Neither one is right for every home. Here's how they compare:
| Tank Water Heater | Tankless Water Heater | |
|---|---|---|
| Hot water supply | Limited to the tank size | Continuous, up to the unit's flow rate |
| Space | Floor space for the tank | Mounts on the wall |
| Typical lifespan | About 8 to 12 years | Often longer with regular descaling |
| Install requirements | Usually a straight swap | May need a larger gas line, new venting or electrical upgrades |
| Maintenance | Annual flush | Regular descaling |
We'll look at your household, your gas or electric service and your venting before recommending either.
Tankless can be a great upgrade for a busy Northbrook household. Whether it works in your home comes down to three things we check before quoting.
A gas tankless unit can need far more gas at full fire than the old tank. In homes from the 1950s through the 1980s, that often means upsizing part of the gas line. See gas line installation.
A tankless unit is sized by how much hot water flows at the same time. Two showers and a dishwasher on a January morning is the test. We size for that, not an average day.
Most gas tankless units vent out the side of the house instead of up the old chimney. We plan the vent location so it meets code and stays clear of windows, decks and walkways.
A good tankless install starts with an honest answer about whether tankless fits your house.
Gas supply, venting route and, for electric units, the panel. You'll know what your home needs before you get a price.
We walk you through both options, what each costs to install and run, and how long each should last.
You get a flat-rate price before any work begins, and the work area is cleaned up before we leave.

"Alex came out to provide a quote for a tankless water heater I wanted installed. He explained everything in so much detail, about the electric upgrade I would need, about how the heater will actually work 'in real life' (not just on paper). Then it turned out my electric couldn't support the tankless. [...]"
"We had our water heater leak and Kyle from J Blanton came and installed a tankless system in only a few hours. It works amazing and he was very fast and thorough. Thanks for the great job Kyle."
"Christian was fantastic l! He’s been here a few times for no drip club visits and he’s the man! Did our tankless water heater maintenance and was friendly and efficient, highly recommend 🙌🏼"
Often, for larger households. But older homes may need gas or venting work first.
For larger households that run out of hot water, it often is: continuous hot water, more floor space and a longer life with regular descaling. The install can cost more in an older home that needs a bigger gas line or new venting, so we show you exactly what your home needs before you decide.
Yes, if it's sized for winter. Cold incoming water is the hardest test.
Yes, if it's sized for it. Incoming water is coldest in January, so the unit has to raise the temperature further. We size tankless units for the coldest month, not the average one.
