Sewer Repair
Camera inspections, root removal and repairs for older clay and cast iron sewer lines.
Water at the basement floor drain, a toilet that gurgles when the tub empties or every drain in the house slowing down together. That's a main line clog. We rod it clear and show you what caused it on camera. Our office is on Spinning Wheel Road.

Sewer rodding clears a blocked main line with a long, flexible steel cable fed through a cleanout access point. A cutting head on the end breaks through roots, grease, and debris and pushes the blockage toward the street connection, restoring flow through the pipe. It's the standard first fix for a clogged or backed-up sewer line. For most homes, it's the only fix needed.
These point past a single fixture:
It's the lowest opening, so a main line clog shows there first.
When all the fixtures slow down, the shared line is blocked.
Air trapped behind the clog bubbles up through other drains.
Roots in old clay tend to block the line around the same time each year.
Hinsdale's mix of century-old and brand-new homes means the cause varies by block.
In older neighborhoods, roots grow through clay joints and form dense mats.
Original cast iron inside older homes builds rust scale that snags paper.
Now and then we find sand or debris left in a line after a teardown and rebuild.
If roots return fast, hydro jetting or a sewer repair lasts longer.
We open the line, then explain what we found.
Drop cloths down, and we work from the cleanout.
The line is cleared to the main and checked on camera.
Plus options, if the camera finds damage.

The floor drain or several fixtures are involved.
If the basement floor drain backs up, or several fixtures on different floors are slow, the blockage is in the main line.
About once a year if roots have been a problem.
About once a year, ideally in late winter or early spring, if roots have blocked the line before.
Not with the right equipment. We check it on camera.
Not when it's done with the right cutting head. If the pipe is already cracked or broken, the camera will show it and we'll explain the options.
We can go through a toilet or vent, or add one.
We can usually reach the line through a toilet or a roof vent. Adding a cleanout makes every future visit easier and less invasive.
It depends on access and the clog. You'll approve a flat price first.
It depends on where the cleanout is, how long the line is and what's blocking it. You'll approve a flat-rate price before we begin.
