What an Ejector Pump Does
Fixtures below the sewer line can't drain by gravity. A basement toilet, shower, bar sink or laundry drains into a sealed basin, and the ejector pump lifts the wastewater up into the main line. A float switch turns the pump on, and a check valve keeps the water from falling back. If one part fails, the basin fills and backs up into the room.
