Sewer Repair
Cracked clay laterals, roots and repeat backups in sewer lines from the 1940s, 50s and 60s.
A disposal that hums, leaks or won't start, or a kitchen that never had one. We install, repair and replace garbage disposals in Elmhurst homes. Our office is on York Street, downtown.

We fix disposals that:
A jam or failing motor.
A worn seal or cracked housing.
A tripped reset or bad switch.
A clog past the unit.
Many Elmhurst kitchens are adding or upgrading disposals.
Older kitchens may need an outlet and drain changes.
Ground food can clog older pipe.
Often leak from the housing.
Repair if it's worth it.
Jam, motor, seal or drain.
Repair or replace.
No leaks.

Most households do well with a 1/2 or 3/4 horsepower disposal. More power grinds finer and jams less. Stainless steel parts last longer. A sound-insulated model is quieter, which matters in an open kitchen. If your dishwasher drains through the disposal, we'll make sure the new one has the right connection and the knockout plug is removed.
The disposal itself is one part. The rest depends on what's under the sink: whether there's an outlet, whether the drain lines up and whether the dishwasher connects through it. A straight swap is quick. A first-time install may need an outlet and drain changes. We look first and quote one flat price.

Usually.
Usually. We may need to add an outlet and adjust the drain.
Turn it off. It's probably jammed.
Turn it off. Try the reset button and the hex key under the unit. If it won't turn, call us.
If it leaks from the body or is old, replace it.
If the housing leaks or it's over about 10 years old, replacing it usually makes more sense.
Grease, bones, fibrous food and coffee grounds.
Grease, bones, fibrous foods, eggshells and coffee grounds cause most problems.
A plug inside the dishwasher inlet.
A plug inside a new disposal's dishwasher inlet. It must be removed if the dishwasher connects there.
Usually a failed internal seal.
A leak from the bottom of the unit usually means an internal seal has failed. That can't be repaired, so the disposal needs replacing.
Usually, with an outlet and proper venting.
Usually. The island needs an outlet and a drain with proper venting. We'll check both.
It depends on the unit. You'll approve a flat price first.
It depends on the unit and the connections. You'll approve a flat-rate price before we start.
